Experience —
Bill received his BS in Political Science from Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama and undertook post-graduate studies in organizational management at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia and the University of Virginia in Richmond, Virginia.
His professional background includes 22 years of HR leadership roles in corporate HR management and 10 years of HR consulting experience. Currently a nationally-certified (SPHR) and a California-certified (SPHR-CA) senior HR generalist; his experience includes 12 years with Bechtel Corporation followed by 9 years at Brown and Caldwell Environmental Engineers At Bechtel, Bill was the Personnel Manager for the company’s Advanced Technology (AT) Division responsible for HR operations in San Francisco, California; Oak Ridge, Tennessee; Albuquerque, New Mexico; and Richland, Washington. At Brown and Caldwell, Bill was the HR Director for their environmental laboratories and later, Corporate Staffing and Employee Relations Manager.
For 17 years, Bill taught college-level HR courses that included Management of Human Resources, Employment Law, and Recruiting and Selection at the University of California for U.C. Berkeley Extension.
Credentials —
Bill’s professional leadership roles include a seat on the Board of Directors for the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM); the Board of Directors and President for the Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI); State Director and later, State Certification Director, California State Council of SHRM; the Board of Directors and President for the Northern California Human Resources Association (NCHRA); and Commissioner and Chair, Marin County Personnel Commission. Bill currently is a Technical Advisor for NCHRA’s HR Certification Preparation Programs. In 2008, Bill will be facilitating SHRM’s newest course; the PHR-CA and SPHR-CA Certification Preparation Course. |
